Green Eco Solutions Ltd. is a renewable energy company based in Naivasha, Kenya, where they provide clean cooking solutions through production and distribution of fuel briquettes made from chardust and milled macadamia nuts. Founder Grace Gitiha created Green Eco Solutions Ltd. after witnessing the decimation of the forest in her community, and with the resulting lack of firewood for fuel, she wanted to help protect the environment by producing her own sustainable fuel source.

For production, Green Eco Solutions Ltd. uses an agglomerator and extruder to produce two tons of fireball shaped and stick shaped briquettes per day. Households use the fireball shaped briquettes, which burn faster and hotter, for cooking and institutions such as poultry farmers and small restaurants prefer the longer burning stick briquettes. The company produces in Naivasha and distributes products to customers in Naivasha, Nairobi and Kajiado County.

Along with distributing to small restaurants and households, Green Eco Solutions Ltd. sell their products locally in two shops under the brand MakaaTunza Briquettes, which translates to “charcoal that conserves”. In the HFI Kenya cohort, they hope to improve their market and sales, as well as get more affiliations with shopkeepers in their area.
