Eyoh Alder Ventures is located in Kikuyu, Kenya, where they distribute briquettes made from macadamia nuts and chardust. The macadamia nut briquettes are sold under the name MAC Briquettes and are used for heating, while the chardust briquettes are sold under Eyoh Alder Products and are used for cooking. The company is run by Muthoni Ndung’u who was motivated to provide her community of Limuru with clean energy alternatives for improvement of their health and the environment.  Muthoni was introduced to the business by another HFI Kenya company, Eversave Charcoal, and continues to partner with Eversave to distribute their briquettes.

Along with providing a source of clean energy to wholesalers and retailers, Eyoh Alder distributes food, specifically legumes, beans and peas, and sells them locally at farmers markets.  Legumes, such as beans and peas, are an important staple in the Kenyan diet and require long, even cooking times.  Briquettes are the perfect fuel for cooking these types of foods, so Eyoh Alder is leveraging its existing distribution system to sell these products together.  The company will continue to bundle the legumes with their briquettes, to expand their distribution reach.
